A unique terroir in the heart of Normandy

A unique terroir in the heart of Normandy

The area is surrounded by fresh and salt-water marshlands, acres of woodland, and vast, green pastures. With a mild climate all year round, it’s the perfect environment for dairy cows to graze for up to eight months of the year. Plus, the fertile soil is known for producing milk that’s naturally rich in mineral salts, micronutrients and oleic fatty acids.

More than 100 years of heritage

For generations, local dairy farmers have recognized the value of this unique terroir. And in 1909, 50 forward-thinking milk producers came together to form a cooperative. They built a factory in Chef-du-Pont, near the Paris-Cherbourg railway line – so their dairy products could be sold in the capital. Just one year later, more than 200 members had joined the venture.
